In this edition of Creative Heads, Daniela Neugebauer speaks about her love for movement and the magic of dance.
After studying dance in Hamburg and Rotterdam, contemporary dancer and choreographer Daniela Neugebauer moved to London in 2010 after successfully auditioning for award-winning British choreographer and director Wayne McGregor, whose company she danced for until 2019. In this video Neugebauer speaks about the discipline and magic of dance, about how a Swiss sense of precision informs the way she prepares for new works, and about the similarities and differences between the work of dancers and choreographers. “Every show, you try to be absolutely in the moment in every moment of every movement, every second. In that present there can be real magic and you can experience these shows where you are just somehow one with the universe. I’m not quite sure how else to describe it. Everything sort of clicks and it works.”
