The Embassy of Switzerland in the UK and the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT), in partnership with the Edinburgh Tax Network and Terra Firma Chambers, will be holding a panel discussion in Edinburgh on Thursday 9 June on the topic of ESG investing and adapting to the green agenda.
ESG considerations are now key for investors around the globe. With last year's COP26 summit, Scotland moved to the centre stage for international discussions on sustainability. Both Swiss and UK financial centres are committed to becoming leading international locations for sustainable finance, in order to support the global green agenda and deliver on the political commitments that have been made.
The discussion will focus on the complex interplay between legal, regulatory and economic considerations around ESG investing and sustainable finance. Topics that will be explored include whether existing governance arrangements be squared with social and environmental goals and if the legal obligations of fiduciaries to act in the narrow interests of financial beneficiaries or objectives impair green investing.
