There’s the sound of a perfect memory.
There’s the sound of a glass of pink paint.
There’s the sound of a frozen wave.

The poem's title is "Still Life (Self-Portrait)" and uses the history of the still life, language, sound and imagery to defamiliarize with how we see ourselves, our surroundings and our everyday interactions with the world. As such, it challenges the reader to"rethink" what and how we see and know and to use that experience to"rebuild" a deeper and gentler life. – Daniele Pantano
Daniele Pantano is a Swiss poet, essayist, artist, editor, publisher, scholar, and literary translator of German and Sicilian parentage from Langenthal, Canton of Bern. Pantano is currently Associate Professor (Reader) in Creative Writing and Programme Leader for the MA Creative Writing at the University of Lincoln, United Kingdom. He writes in English.
