#WeAreSwitzerland is an initiative by the Embassy of Switzerland in the United Kingdom to build on the existing partnerships between Switzerland and the UK and forge new ones across the fields of innovation, science, economy, politics and culture.

Switzerland and the UK have a long-standing relationship with common political and economic values, which form the basis for successful cooperation in many fields. Our two countries share a number of strengths: both are world leaders in innovation,research and education, and are home to international financial centres and world-leading cultural institutions. The events that will take place on the #WeAreSwitzerland tour will look to highlight just some of these shared strengths and build on the existing Swiss-UK partnership.

The Ambassador of Switzerland, Markus Leitner, will meet with representatives of the devolved governments of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and Mayors in devolved city regions; visit Swiss companies investing in the United Kingdom; and reach out to the 40,000-strong Swiss community in cities across the country.

The Swiss Business Hub UK, in partnership with Switzerland Global Enterprise, has a number of events focused on the theme of innovation – with events on cell and gene therapy in Cambridge, space technology in Edinburgh and two events on vaccine development and clean tech in Oxford.

In Belfast a gigantic, bio-degradable lawn fresco by the Swiss-based graffiti artist Saype will be inaugurated at the Stormont Estate from 14 June 2022, as part of the Belfast Photo Festival taking place from 2-30 June 2022.

We will also be holding events at Cambridge University and Oxford University on Swiss foreign policy and neutrality, engagements with the Swiss community in cities across the UK and Switzerland Tourism events in Edinburgh and Manchester.

In partnership with the British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce, the Embassy of Switzerland in the UK will be holding an event in Manchester on Switzerland’s footprint in the Northern Powerhouse, with the Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham giving the keynote address.

With these events we are showcasing across the UK that we are innovative. We are creative. We are sustainable. We are committed. We are connected. We are Switzerland.
